CFD - To find pressure drop in an air
filter:
Axis - IT&T did FEA to perform steady state, K-Epsilon turbulence
and non-buoyant and stationary domain incompressible CFD analysis
on the air filter to determine the pressure drop.
Process:
Description -The fluid model was created in the Pro/ENGINEER
and CFD analysis was carried out in CFX. The problem was modeled
on 3 domains and domain interfaces were used to connect the domains.
Air temperature of 68.63 F was used with a reference pressure
of 29.50 inch Hg. Analysis was carried at 1600 CFM. Quadratic
resistance co-efficient of 23618 Kg/m4 was used on the filter
after the validation.
Boundary conditions: Inlet velocity = 16.1489 m/sec, Outlet average
static pressure of 0 Pa
Analysis was run after loading the boundary conditions. These
stream line plots were obtained.
